Sweet Iron

Sweet Iron bits are crafted from durable steel and feature a distinctive blue color. This material is designed to encourage natural salivation, enhancing your horse's comfort and promoting better acceptance of the bit.

Eliptical /  Double-Jointed - Dr. Bristol / French Link

A double-jointed bit consists of three parts, with the middle section resting on the tongue. This design means the double-jointed bit applies more pressure to the tongue than a single-jointed bit, but it distributes pressure more evenly across the bars and corners of the mouth.

The Dr. Bristol link in the middle lies in a corner on the tongue creating some pressure. The French Link lies flat on the tongue which is softer on the tongue compared to the Dr. Bristol.

With this bits It’s crucial to choose the correct size for a double-jointed bit. If the bit is too large, the joints may touch the corners of the mouth, potentially causing small wounds.

2½ & 3 Ring

The 2½ & 3 Ring, also known as a Pessoa bit, features extra rings at the top and bottom of the regular bit rings. The top ring is used to attach the cheekpiece, while the bottom ring is for the rein. When the rein is used, the top ring tilts forward, creating leverage.

The strength of the impact depends on the type of mouthpiece, material, and number of rings. A 2½-ring snaffle creates less strong leverage than a 3-ring snaffle

Why Proper Sizing Matters

Choosing the correct bit size is essential for your horse’s comfort and performance. A bit that is too small can create painful pressure points and damage the mouth, while a bit that is too large may slide through the horse's mouth, causing discomfort and pinching the corners, potentially leading to wounds. Always ensure the bit fits snugly without being restrictive to keep your horse comfortable and responsive.
